Bangkok, Thailand (June 1-2)

Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, is home to royal palaces, incredible Buddhist temples, multinational corporations, the largest Chinatown outside of China, excellent food, and some 15 million people. Bangkok has been named the world’s most visited city, and we are doing our part to keep up its ranking!

We arrived Thursday afternoon and immediately went for a massage, then an excellent dinner, a tuk tuk ride, and a stroll around one of many night markets. Friday we grabbed an air conditioned cab (it was over 100 degrees!) to the royal palace and its temples including the sacred Emerald Buddha temple, the flower market, and, yes, to a tailor where we each had linen shirts made and sport coats (which, hopefully they will ship to us….). The palace requires long pants, so unsurprisingly, several venders were selling cheap ones outside the gates, and that’s what we’re wearing there! They will become part of Bill’s permanent wardrobe.
