Penang, Malaysia (May 16)
Penang is a Malaysian island in the Straits of Malacca hosting a colorful mix of cultures and religions: Chinese Buddhist, Indian Hindu, ethnic Malay Muslim, and colonial British Anglican. Its location made it an important trading center, and at one time it housed the headquarters of the British East India Company. George Town, Penang’s capital and sixth largest city in Malaysia, reflects all of this, particularly in the UNESCO designated World Heritage Site.
Because it was extremely hot and humid, we opted for an air conditioned taxi tour to visit stunningly intricate Buddhist temples, the old Chinese section built out over the water to escape the land tax, a beautiful clan house, built by and for the Khoo family, and fascinating streets with interesting street art.

Is this where the term "White Elephant" was coined? Note, you have seen so many fantastic temples, I will not be asking "which was your favorite", but rather a top 5 list. FB
