Khatmandu, Nepal (Apr 30 - May 3)
A quick update: after Fujairah, we spent 2 days cruising the Arabian Sea heading to Mumbai, India. Once there on April 30th, a small group of about 50 immediately boarded a bus to the airport to fly to Khatmandu.
Khatmandu, capital of Nepal, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and currently one of the fastest growing now with almost 3 million people in the metropolitan area. Spanning the valley of the same name, Khatmandu is the gateway to the Himalayas and home to several world heritage sites, several of which we toured. In Khatmandu, we stayed at the Dwarikas hotel, an oasis of charm and calm in the midst of the bustling city.
Sailing into Mumbai, here’s the Gateway of India, the arch completed in 1924 to commemorate the 1911 visit of King-Emperor George V the first British monarch to visit India, and to its left, the Taj Hotel, site of a terrorist attack and hostage taking in 2008.

A highlight was two early morning flights to see the Himalayas and Mt.Everest. Two because the first morning was cloudy so we got a complimentary 2nd chance. (Clearest shot is from a travel poster 😝)
In Khatmandu, we visited the very young Living Goddess, the medieval city of Patan and Durbar Square, a singing bowl workshop, the Bodhnath Stupa (the largest stupa in Nepal), the Pashupatinath Temple the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal and site of cremations, and the medieval capital of Bhaktspur.
Looks like another amazing place and not one but two flights to see Mt. Everest. The Living Goddess doesn't look too happy. Loving your accounts of your travels. Sent you a text message today. Hope you are able to read it when you have internet connection. Love you both!
