Dakar, Senegal, is a vibrant African capital of 1.5 million (metro area of almost 4 million). From the 15th-19th centuries, Dakar passed back and forth from Portuguese to Dutch to English to French colonialists until Senegal’s independence in 1960. Goree Island, off the coast of Dakar, has symbolized the slaves that were sold from Africa to the New World, many through the Gate of No Return on Goree Island.

  1. Love the African cloth !! and dressing style. It's so fun to see it when one is in Paris, but likely better and more prolific at the source. (F)
