Recife/Olinda, Brazil (Mar 10)

Recife, the Venice of Brazil, was founded on three islands now connected by multiple bridges and long ago expanded to the mainland. Its bustling center contains colonial architecture (notably the Golden Chapel) along side modern skyscrapers. From the beach, it looks like Miami.

Olinda, Recife’s neighbor on a hill with stunning views overlooking the Atlantic, has preserved is colonial character and is dotted with amazing 16th churches and convents.
