Mindelo, Cape Verde (Mar 16)

After a smooth three day Atlantic crossing from Brazil - north over the Equator -, we arrived at the island nation of Cape Verde. It consists of 10 volcanic islands with about 500,000 people and lies in the central Atlantic about 450 miles off the coast of Africa. Initially a Portuguese territory, it was granted independence in 1975 and is now an independent republic. The principal port is Mindelo, on the island of São Vincente, surrounded by volcanic peaks, featuring colorful houses, a strong fish smell, and an island vibe.

  1. Also some killer music from there. Is local music part of the tour? (FB)

  2. Is there a "main" island then that you went to? Are there resorts on other islands or just locals?
