Banjul, The Gambia (Mar 19)
Banjul seems stereotypically African. Although the capital of the Gambia, Banjul remains one of Africa’s smallest - and poorest - cities. Originally called Bathurst by the British, Banjul is nestled on St. Mary’s island at the mouth of The Gambia River and exudes a village-like vibe with its constrained size and population of only 40,000. The Albert market is a labyrinth of small outdoor stalls, much like an Arabian souk.

From eric: cool. Quite a diversity of port stops. Some rich and fancy. Some, like this, very poor
ReplyDeleteBill, hope you come home with a closet full of the clothes you've been trying on. Bob, at least buy a T-shirt or two... (F)
